More restrictions slated for Bell Road

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Work continues on phases 2 and 3 of the five-phase Bell Road reconstruction project and that will include additional traffic restrictions this week on both sides of Bell.

Eastbound Bell Road will be closed at Reems Road Aug. 20 and 21, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day, as crews continue water line installation in the area. The road will be reopened in time for the morning commute on both days, and detour signs will be posted. Westbound Bell will be restricted to one lane during this time. There are also left-turn restrictions in place at Reems throughout the day and the inside/median lane of westbound Bell will remain closed throughout this portion of the project from Parkview to Reems.

Starting Aug. 22, the center and curb lanes of eastbound Bell, from Litchfield Road to Grand Avenue, will be closed to traffic, as crews continue installing a large multi-conduit duct bank under the pavement. The center lane will reopen in time for the morning commute Aug. 25, however the curb lane will remain closed. Additional weekend lane closures on eastbound Bell are expected over the next two months, west of Litchfield Road. When complete, this work will allow APS to install lines to meet future power needs at the City Center, the future home to the new City Hall, without having to tear up the pavement.

Shoppers should note that although road restrictions are planned throughout this project, access to all businesses along Bell Road will be protected.

Work on the left-turn lane on westbound Bell at 133rd Avenue is anticipated to be complete by the end of this week. This will improve access to businesses on the south side of Bell Road.
